📖 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. (Acts 2:42)
The early church focused on the following four pillars: the apostles’ teaching, fellowship with one another, sharing meals, and prayer. In light of this, we should ask ourselves what activities we are dedicating ourselves to. Our focus should be on making every effort to practice these pillars. The apostles’ teaching is the foundation of the Christian faith. Fellowship is the body of Christ united and receiving blessings. Sharing meals with our brothers and sisters strengthens our bonds and provides an opportunity to give to those in need. And prayer connects us directly with God.Â
The early church was greatly blessed because they devoted themselves to these things. They loved God above all else and loved one another. What does your love for God move you to do? Does your love for your neighbor produce any results? Follow the example of the early church!
Devote yourself!
Study the apostles’ teaching; read the Bible.
Enjoy fellowship with the church; be the church alongside them.
Deepen your prayer life so that God may be part of your everyday life.
Prayer: Lord God, my beloved Father, help me devote myself to what truly matters, just as the early church did. May my heart be transformed by the teaching of the apostles, the direct followers of Jesus Christ, and may I love my brothers and sisters as the early church loved one another. Keep me away from selfishness and pride, and help me hold firmly to Your commandments. In Jesus’ name, amen. 🙏
