📖 "And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him." – Matthew 6:7-8

A pastor once shared that one night his little son said, "I’m going to bed and I will pray. Does anyone need anything?" Everyone found it wonderful. But it also shows what many people think about prayer: a moment just to ask for things without considering God, with selfish attitudes.

Jesus taught that God already knows what we need before we ask. That’s why we should avoid empty repetitions and wish lists. Prayer is not just asking; it’s communicating with God as His children and friends.

In the Lord’s Prayer, we learn that prayer draws us closer to God. We recognize His greatness, express our hearts sincerely, and desire to come near Him as to a good friend. Open your heart and pray with confidence.

The Father hears your prayer

  • Be sincere and truthful in prayer. God knows your heart, so be transparent with Him.

  • Be authentic! Avoid mechanical prayer patterns. Just because you like the eloquence of some ministers doesn’t mean you should pray like them.

  • Don’t speak empty words. It’s sad to have a false friend, isn’t it? The prophet Isaiah warned against hypocrisy (Mark 7:6).

  • Draw near to God with all your heart, mind, and strength.

  • Pray continually (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Keep your mind and heart connected to God in a spirit of prayer.

  • Intercede! Pray for the needs of others, the Church, and the world. Your prayer matters!

To pray: Lord my God, thank You for teaching us to pray in the way that pleases You. I praise You, for You are Holy, perfect, powerful, and faithful. Thank You for accepting me as I am. Help me to draw closer to You and live in constant prayer, always trusting in Your Word. In Jesus’ name, amen. 🙏
