Are We Servants or Masters?

Sometimes we have a servile relationship with God, but instead of being servants, we act as masters... we ask, declare, almost command. We are not masters, but servants. Yet, we still expect blessings from God, peace, prosperity, and health, among other things. Now, what does God expect from us?

The first thing God expects from us is recognition, that we recognize that He is God and that He has saved us through Jesus. He wants us to acknowledge Him as the Lord of our lives, because a high price was paid for our salvation.

God also expects us to walk according to His Word. Obedience is evidence of respect, and consequently, when we obey His Word, we benefit ourselves. Everything we ask for could be given to us if we sought the Kingdom of God.

The third thing God wants from us is love. Yes, pure and genuine love. This point is the most important because without love there is no recognition or obedience to Him. When we love God, we cultivate love for our neighbor and for the commandments of His Word.

God expects neither more nor less from you. He expects you to truly love Him!

Responding to God

- Reflect on how you talk to God. Have you been speaking to Him just to ask for things? Take a moment from your day to exalt and thank God.

- Love your neighbor. Small gestures of love and compassion for others make us kinder.

- Do not read the Bible as a book of restrictions but as an instruction manual for life. Keep the Word of God in your heart.

For prayer: Lord, I want to be an instrument in Your hands. I have desires and dreams, but Your will is greater and more important. Take the lead in my life and guide me according to Your Word. I want to respond to You because I recognize all that You have done in my life. Thank You, God, amen.
