Discovering the Purpose of Our Purposes

Verse: "Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand." - Proverbs 19:21

In life, we are constantly making purposes and plans. These can range from personal goals to grand dreams we want to achieve. However, what is the purpose of making a purpose in the first place? The answer lies in how these purposes reflect our relationship with God and His will for our lives.

When we make a purpose, we are making a statement of intent. We are saying, "God, guide me on this path. Help me make decisions that honor and glorify you." It is an act of faith and humility to recognize that we cannot achieve our goals solely with our own strength, but we need God's direction and power.

The verse from Proverbs reminds us that, although we make many plans, only the counsel of the Lord will endure. This means that our purposes should align with God's eternal purposes. Are we seeking His kingdom and His righteousness in everything we do? Are we willing to set aside our plans if we discover they go against His will?

When our purposes are in harmony with God's purposes, we experience a peace and satisfaction that goes beyond earthly achievements. Each purpose becomes an opportunity to grow spiritually, to love, and to serve others as Christ taught us.

Final Prayer: Heavenly Father, guide us in seeking our purposes to align with Your perfect will. Help us not to rely on our own plans, but on Your wisdom and direction. May each purpose we make be an opportunity to honor you and reflect your love in the world. In Jesus' name, amen.
