Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed are those who take refuge in Him. (Psalm 34:8)
How can we know that God is good?
Today's verse gives us a simple invitation: taste and see! It’s that straightforward—if we want to experience God's goodness, we must engage with it. God is Lord, and while He cannot be tested in a lab, He is fully available for a personal relationship.
Think of cooking. When we hear about a delicious dish, we understand it better if we know the ingredients. Reading the recipe and learning the steps increases our anticipation. But nothing compares to actually tasting it. A beautiful picture of the finished meal isn’t enough—we truly know how good it is only when we take a bite.
It's the same with God. We must taste Him—not through physical senses but through our mind, body, soul, and spirit. We need to experience Him personally, in a real and true way, to savor His incomparable goodness and grace.
Naturally, we often want instant results. We wish to see and enjoy God first, then follow Him. However, the process works in reverse: before seeing, we must first taste and believe. As Jesus said, "If you believe, you will see the glory of God." (John 11:40)
Whoever tastes God finds refuge in Him—and rejoices!
Discover God personally!
Testimonies inspire, but you must seek Christ to see Him in your life.
Experiencing God isn’t mechanical or legalistic. Know Him through His Word, faith, and obedience.
Don’t just believe that God is good—experience Him in your own life.
Draw near to Him through prayer and His Word. His goodness will follow you always.
God is good, all the time! All the time, God is good!
Prayer: Dear God, I want to experience the reality of Your goodness in my life. Help me to trust, obey, and love You for who You are and all You have done. Teach me Your ways so that, day by day, I may recognize and see Your goodness everywhere I go.
Heavenly Father, help Your people believe and find refuge in You, delighting in Your Word and presence daily with devotion and gratitude. Only then will we truly be blessed, as Your Word promises. In Jesus’ name, I pray and give thanks. Amen.
